The Meridia by Sun Pools is a long, 12-foot-wide fiberglass pool, listed at 12′ x 28′ with a 3′ to 5′ depth, and its advantage is length. Sun Pools builds several pools 12 feet wide, but most of them stop at 24 or 25 feet long. The Meridia keeps the 12-foot width and stretches to 28 feet, giving a Northeast Ohio family more room to swim, play, and spread out without widening the footprint. If your yard is long and narrow, the Meridia deserves a spot on your short list.

Extra Length Where Your Family Will Feel It
What Is the Meridia Pool?
The Meridia is a fiberglass pool that Sun Pools lists at 12′ x 28′ with a depth of 3′ to 5′. Sun Pools gives those as approximate maximum available dimensions and describes its drawings as approximate and not to scale.
The Meridia’s 12′ x 28′ size and 3′ to 5′ depth show exactly where it sits in the lineup. Among the 12-foot-wide pools that list 3′ to 5′, the Meridia is the longest, ahead of the Nassau at 12′ x 25′ and the Freeport, Freeport Oasis, Shoreline, and South Beach at 12′ x 24′. Over those 28 feet, the water goes from roughly 3 feet at the shallow point to roughly 5 feet at the deep point. The spot where it deepens, and the placement of any steps and seating, are laid out on Sun Pools’ drawings, which we review together at your consultation.
What the Meridia Pool Is Not
The Meridia is not a single-depth pool. The Lakeside is listed at the same 12′ x 28′ size, with a single listed depth of 4’6″. If your family prefers one listed depth, look at the Lakeside. If you like a range from shallower to deeper water, the Meridia is the one.
The Meridia is also not a wide pool or a deep one. If you have room for a little more, the Martinique lists the same 3′ to 5′ range at 13′ x 29′. For deeper water, the Jamaica and Rio list 3′ to 6′ at 14′ x 28′, the same length as the Meridia but 2 feet wider.
Why Sun Pools?
Sun Pools has made hand crafted pools of American made composite materials since 1995, and today it offers over 30 pool and spa design options, all produced at its Albany, Kentucky plant, an EPA approved Title V facility.
On a shell that runs 28 feet long and only 12 feet wide, these points carry the most weight:
- Strength that runs across the shell: With critical point lamination, Sun lays hand cut sheet fabric from one side of the pool to the other, much like a high end yacht. Sun says the result supports itself, so a spreader bar or belly band is not required to lift and set it.
- Resin, ribs, and a reinforced edge: A modified epoxy skin-coat resin finishes the Meridia’s interior, and structural ribs plus a reinforced coping round out the shell.
- No resin fillers: Sun builds with high grade marine FRP resin products and says its exterior shell colors are not dyed or tinted and do not vary from pool to pool.
Sun Pools says the floor and steps of its pools feature a non-skid textured bottom.
Why Fiberglass, and Why the Meridia?
Vinyl and concrete pools are built piece by piece in your yard. A Sun Pools fiberglass pool is built in the factory instead and shows up as a finished shell, which Sun says saves weeks of construction time. Down the road, you will not be replacing a liner or acid washing and re-coating a concrete surface, and Sun says the interior requires minimum chemical treatment. That durability suits Northeast Ohio, where the pool sits through a long offseason every year.
The case for the Meridia is simple geometry. Many backyards are deeper than they are wide, and a 12-foot width keeps the pool from eating the whole lot side to side. By adding length instead of width, the Meridia gives you four more feet than Sun’s 12′ x 24′ models, along with a range of water from about 3 feet to about 5 feet. That extra length is room for one more game, one more swimmer, and a little more breathing space on a busy Saturday.

Meridia Pool FAQs
What does a 3' to 5' depth range mean on a 28-foot pool?
Across a 28-foot listed length, the water goes from about 3 feet at the shallowest point to about 5 feet at the deepest. That gives the family shallower water for easing in and deeper water for swimming in the same pool. Exactly where the Meridia deepens, and how its floor is shaped, is something we trace on Sun Pools’ drawings with you before you decide.
Should I choose the Meridia or the Lakeside?
Both are listed at 12′ x 28′, so both fit the same space. The Meridia lists a range of 3′ to 5′. The Lakeside lists a single depth of 4’6″. If you like a range from shallower to deeper water, the Meridia may suit you. If you want one listed depth for standing play, the Lakeside may be the better fit. We can put both drawings side by side during your consultation.
How does the Meridia compare with the Freeport and other 12' x 24' pools?
Same width, same 3′ to 5′ listing, four more feet of length. Sun Pools calls the Freeport its top selling 12′ x 24′ model, and the Shoreline, South Beach, and Freeport Oasis share that size. If one of those fits your yard with room to spare, the Meridia’s extra length may be worth it. If space is tight, a 12′ x 24′ model keeps the same width in a shorter footprint.
What layout options should I ask about?
Start with the steps and seats. The Meridia’s step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings during your consultation, so you see the full 28 feet mapped out before anything is ordered. Sun Pools does not list automatic cover compatibility on the Meridia’s model page, so Ohio Paradise Pools confirms cover options during design. Sun’s brand-wide extras include waterline tile trim, inlaid mosaic tile, built in waterfalls, and color underwater lighting, in 4 solid color finishes.
How long does it take to install a Meridia pool?
Your Meridia leaves the factory as a single finished shell. Most projects take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to move from excavation through shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing, and permitting, site access, weather, and decking scope all affect that timeline. Ohio Paradise Pools manages every stage, sends regular updates and FaceTime walk-throughs, and finishes with two pool school visits.
What warranty does the Meridia pool carry?
The Meridia’s shell is covered by the Sun Pools Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty that Sun gives its fiberglass pool shells. A 3 year warranty covers the interior surface, and the warranty is transferable within the first 36 months. The Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate delivered with your pool sets the terms, and Sun requires registration with its corporate office. Ohio Paradise Pools adds local backing: over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and the title of Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
