The Montego Bay by Sun Pools is a small fiberglass pool that arrives with its own water feature. Sun Pools calls it “one of the bestselling smaller pools” and “the little brother of the popular St. Lucia,” and it is described as “boasting a deep end tanning ledge with a 12″ standard waterfall, large steps, and a wrap-around shallow end seat.” Under all of that runs Sun’s “comfortable non-slip textured sloped floor with 3′-5′ water depth.” The result is a listed 11′ x 26′ pool with the sound of moving water and a spot to stretch out in the sun, sized for a Northeast Ohio yard that has more length than width to give.

What Is the Montego Bay Pool?
The Montego Bay appears in Sun Pools’ small pool category, listed at 11′ x 26′ with a 3′ to 5′ depth. Sun Pools labels those figures approximate maximum available dimensions.
Its identity comes from what is standard. The deep end carries a tanning ledge paired with a 12″ waterfall, and Sun lists that waterfall as standard, not optional. Large steps lead in, and a wrap-around seat curls along the shallow end so people can sit in the water and talk. The floor slopes from 3′ to 5′ and has Sun’s non-slip textured finish. Like every Sun model, the shell is made with critical point lamination, which Sun says delivers “the toughest pools on the market.”
What the Montego Bay Pool Is Not
It is not a St. Lucia, even though Sun Pools calls it the St. Lucia’s little brother. The St. Lucia is listed at 15′ x 37′ with a 3′ to 6′ depth and an 18″ built-in waterfall in its deep-end seating area. The Montego Bay scales the family idea down to 11′ x 26′, 3′ to 5′, and a 12″ standard waterfall at its deep end tanning ledge. Big yard, look at the St. Lucia. Smaller yard, the Montego Bay.
It is not a wide pool either. At 11′ across, it is narrower than the 12′ x 24′ Freeport and the 12′ x 25′ Nassau, and a full 3′ narrower than a 14′ x 32′ Catalina. On a long, slim lot, that narrow profile is the point.
Why Sun Pools?
A shell with a tanning ledge, a wrap-around seat, and large steps depends on careful construction, and Sun Pools has been refining its process since 1995. Every Montego Bay is made at the company’s Albany, Kentucky plant, which Sun describes as an EPA approved Title V facility using state of the art technology.
- Hand cut, side to side: in Sun’s critical point lamination, sheet fabric is cut by hand for this model and laid across the shell from side to side, much as a high end yacht is laminated, rather than sprayed on as chop glass.
- Built to support itself: Sun says that lamination enables the shell to support itself, so a spreader bar or belly band is not needed when the Montego Bay is lifted into place.
Sun also finishes the shell with a modified epoxy skin-coat resin, adds structural ribs and a reinforced coping, uses high grade marine FRP resin with no resin fillers, and colors it with one of 4 solid marine finishes that carry no clear coat. On the Montego Bay, the steps and sloped floor share Sun’s non-slip textured surface.
Why Fiberglass, and Why the Montego Bay?
A Sun Pools shell comes out of the factory complete and shows up ready to be installed, which Sun says saves weeks of construction time. Once it is in the ground, the company says, you will not be replacing a liner as with vinyl or acid washing and re-coating as with concrete, and the smooth interior requires minimum chemical treatment.
The Montego Bay’s own argument is how much it includes at this size. A tanning ledge, a 12″ standard waterfall, large steps, and a wrap-around shallow end seat all fit inside a listed 11′ x 26′. Because the waterfall is listed as standard, the first summer already has the sound of falling water, a ledge for sunbathers, and a shallow end seat for conversation.

Montego Bay Pool FAQs
Is the waterfall really standard?
Yes. Sun Pools describes the Montego Bay as “boasting a deep end tanning ledge with a 12″ standard waterfall.” We plan the plumbing and placement of the waterfall with you during design so it works with your equipment and your view from the house.
Where are the tanning ledge and the seat?
Sun places the tanning ledge at the deep end, together with the 12″ waterfall, and a wrap-around seat at the shallow end, with large steps for entry. The exact shapes are confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings when we meet.
What does the 3' to 5' sloped floor mean?
Sun describes a non-slip textured sloped floor running from 3′ to 5′. The water gets gradually deeper from the shallow end seat toward the deep end ledge, giving waders and swimmers each a zone. Sun lists the 11′ x 26′ size and 3′ to 5′ depth as approximate maximum available dimensions. Always keep an eye on children and newer swimmers.
How is the Montego Bay related to the St. Lucia?
Sun Pools calls the Montego Bay “the little brother of the popular St. Lucia.” The St. Lucia is listed at 15′ x 37′ and 3′ to 6′, with an 18″ built-in waterfall in its deep-end seating area and a large wrap-around shallow end seat. The Montego Bay carries the resemblance at 11′ x 26′ and 3′ to 5′, with its 12″ standard waterfall and a wrap-around shallow end seat.
Which other small Sun Pools models should I compare?
The Kingston (11′ x 20′), Sanibel (11′ x 23′), Freeport, Freeport Oasis, and Shoreline (all 12′ x 24′), and Nassau (12′ x 25′) share the Montego Bay’s 3′ to 5′ depth. At 26′ long, the Montego Bay is the longest of that group. If a tanning ledge is your priority, the Freeport Oasis has one too, but of these models only the Montego Bay pairs its ledge with a standard waterfall.
Will an 11' wide pool fit my yard?
The narrow 11′ width can be a real advantage on lots that are long and slim. How it fits your property depends on setbacks, utilities, access, and the decking you want, and we lay the Montego Bay out on your actual yard during a site visit.
Can the Montego Bay take an automatic cover?
Sun Pools’ model page for the Montego Bay does not list automatic cover compatibility. With an Ohio swim season of roughly mid-May through September, cover planning belongs in the design stage, and that is when Ohio Paradise Pools confirms your options.
How long does installation take?
The one-piece shell comes finished from Sun’s factory. Most projects then run approximately 2 to 3 weeks, taking in excavation, shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing. Permit timing, site access, weather, and decking scope can change that. We manage it all, keep you updated with FaceTime walk-throughs, and finish with two pool school visits.
What is the Montego Bay's warranty?
Structurally, the Montego Bay is protected by Sun Pools’ Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty. The interior surface gets a 3 year warranty, and within the first 36 months the coverage can be transferred. Terms come from the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate that is delivered with each pool, and registration with the Sun Pools corporate office is required. Ohio Paradise Pools backs the installation locally with over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and three straight years, 2022, 2023, and 2024, as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year.
Does the waterfall add much maintenance?
The pool itself stays simple. Sun Pools says its smooth surface requires minimum chemical treatment and will not need a new liner or an acid wash. You will test and balance the water, run the filter, and skim as needed, and during pool school we show you how the waterfall fits into that routine.
