The Sanibel by Sun Pools is an 11′ x 23′ fiberglass pool with a listed depth of 3′ to 5′, sized for Northeast Ohio families who want a real backyard pool without handing the whole yard over to it. The Sanibel sits right in the middle of Sun’s 11-foot-wide models. It is 3 feet longer than the Kingston at 11′ x 20′ and 3 feet shorter than the Montego Bay at 11′ x 26′. That middle position is its whole appeal: more swimming room than the smallest designs, a lighter footprint than the 12-foot pools.

What Is the Sanibel Pool?
Sun Pools lists the Sanibel fiberglass pool at 11′ x 23′ with a 3′ to 5′ depth. Sun gives these as approximate maximum available dimensions and says its drawings are approximate and not to scale.
Its water goes from about 3 feet at the shallow point to about 5 feet at the deep point, a range Sun also lists on many of its pools under 14 feet wide. The difference is the footprint, 11 feet across and 23 feet long. Sun Pools’ drawings show the step and seating layout and how the depth is arranged, and we go through them with you at your consultation so you can picture the finished pool in your yard.
What the Sanibel Pool Is Not
The Sanibel is not a large pool or a deep one. Its listing tops out at 5′, and at 11′ x 23′ it is well short of Sun’s 14-foot-wide designs. If you have more room, the Freeport, Shoreline, and South Beach list the same 3′ to 5′ range at 12′ x 24′, and the Meridia stretches to 12′ x 28′.
It is also not a model Sun Pools lists features for. If you want features documented in writing at this width, Sun describes the Kingston as a Roman style design with large plantation style steps and two swim out seats, and the Montego Bay as one of its bestselling smaller pools, with a deep end tanning ledge, a 12″ standard waterfall, large steps, and a wrap-around shallow end seat. The Sanibel offers a size between them, with its layout confirmed from the drawings.
Why Sun Pools?
Since 1995, Sun Pools has hand crafted swimming pools from American made composite materials. Production happens at its Albany, Kentucky plant, an EPA approved Title V facility, and Sun points to its staff’s decades of experience as the reason it can offer “one of the toughest composite pools on the market today.”
On an 11-foot-wide shell like the Sanibel, three points stand out:
- Critical point lamination: fabric hand cut for each model goes across the shell from side to side, which Sun compares to high end yacht building, instead of bulk glass end to end or sprayed chop glass.
- No resin fillers: the laminate is high grade marine FRP resin, and Sun says its exterior shell colors are not dyed or tinted and do not vary from pool to pool.
- No clear coat: 4 solid color choices in high grade marine finishes with a proven track record, rather than clear coat bases that can yellow or fog.
Sun Pools says the floor and steps of its pools feature a non-skid textured bottom.
Why Fiberglass, and Why the Sanibel?
Pick vinyl and you eventually replace the liner. Pick concrete and you eventually acid wash or re-coat it. Sun Pools says its fiberglass surface needs neither. The Sanibel is made in the factory and shows up as a finished shell ready to go in, which Sun says saves weeks of construction time, and its smooth interior won’t snag a swimsuit or skin and calls for minimum chemical treatment.
The case for the Sanibel is balance. Plenty of Northeast Ohio lots have room for a pool but not for a pool plus a patio, a play set, and a lawn if the pool is 14 feet wide. The Sanibel keeps the width at 11 feet and the length at 23, while still listing a range from about 3 feet to about 5 feet of water. That leaves space for the rest of your backyard life around it.

Sanibel Pool FAQs
What does an 11' x 23' pool with a 3' to 5' depth mean for my family?
It means a compact footprint with a real range of water, from about 3 feet at the shallowest point to about 5 feet at the deepest. That is enough to cool off, swim, and play without the size of a large pool. Sun Pools’ drawings show where the depth changes and how the floor is shaped, and we walk through them together before you choose.
How does the Sanibel compare with the Kingston and the Montego Bay?
All three are 11 feet wide and list 3′ to 5′. The Kingston is 11′ x 20′, and Sun says its “roman style design is the smallest in this series.” The Montego Bay is 11′ x 26′, and Sun Pools lists features including a deep end tanning ledge and a 12″ standard waterfall. The Sanibel sits between them at 11′ x 23′. If the Kingston feels a little small and the Montego Bay a little long for your space, the Sanibel is the middle ground.
What layout options should I ask about?
The Sanibel’s step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings during your consultation. Covers are another good topic. Automatic cover compatibility is not listed on the Sanibel’s model page, so Ohio Paradise Pools confirms cover options during design. You can also ask about Sun’s brand-wide add-ons: inlaid mosaic tile designs, waterline tile trim, built in waterfalls, and color underwater lighting.
How long does it take to install a Sanibel pool?
The one-piece Sanibel shell is finished at the factory before it ships, so most of the on-site work is digging, setting, and connecting. Plan on approximately 2 to 3 weeks for a typical installation through excavation, shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing, with permitting, site access, weather, and decking scope as the variables. Our team manages all of it, keeps you updated with regular FaceTime walk-throughs, and ends with two pool school visits.
What warranty does the Sanibel pool carry?
Sun Pools’ Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty covers the Sanibel’s shell, and a 3 year warranty covers its interior surface. You can transfer the warranty within the first 36 months. Its terms come from the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate delivered with your pool, and Sun Pools requires registration with its corporate office. Ohio Paradise Pools supports you locally, with over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and three consecutive years, 2022, 2023, and 2024, as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year.
Is a compact pool like the Sanibel easier to maintain?
The chores match any pool: test and balance the water, keep the filtration system running, and skim or vacuum when needed. A smaller pool just means less water and less surface to tend. Sun says its smooth interior requires minimum chemical treatment, and our two-visit pool school covers the whole routine, from spring opening to closing for an Ohio winter.
