Shoreline Sun Pool

A Classic Kidney Shape That Settles Right Into Your Landscape

The Shoreline by Sun Pools is a kidney-shaped fiberglass pool for homeowners who care how the pool looks from the kitchen window. Sun Pools describes it as a “popular, traditional style kidney design” that “features free-form lines to compliment any landscaping option.” Inside are large steps, a deep end seating area, and, in Sun’s words, “3′-5′ water depth and a comfortable, non-skid bottom.” It is a listed 12′ x 24′ shell with the curves of a garden pool and the practical layout of a family one.

What Is the Shoreline Pool?

Sun Pools files the Shoreline under its small pools. It is listed at 12′ x 24′, with water from 3′ to 5′. Sun describes those as approximate maximum available dimensions.

The kidney outline is the headline. Its free-form lines give the pool a relaxed, natural edge, and Sun ties the design directly to landscaping. The interior keeps things simple: large steps for getting in, and a seating area at the deep end for resting and conversation. The floor has Sun’s comfortable non-skid bottom, and the shell comes out of Sun’s critical point lamination system, which the company says delivers “the toughest pools on the market.”

What the Shoreline Pool Is Not

The Shoreline is not a rectangle. Homes with crisp, geometric hardscape may lean toward a rectangle like the Catalina, listed at 14′ x 32′ with 3′ to 7′ of depth and billed by Sun as its “#1 selling rectangle design.” The Shoreline’s curves are for yards where softer lines fit better.

Nor is it the biggest kidney Sun makes. The Jamaica, a “traditional kidney-shaped pool with side steps,” is listed at 14′ x 28′ with a 3′ to 6′ depth. The Shoreline trims the idea down to 12′ x 24′ and 3′ to 5′, which leaves more of the yard for beds, trees, and lawn.

Why Sun Pools?

Sun Pools has been hand crafting pools since 1995, and it builds every shell in Albany, Kentucky, at a manufacturing plant that holds EPA approved Title V status. Its brand line covers over 30 pool and spa designs, and Ohio is one of the states Sun serves. The build details that suit a curved shell like the Shoreline:

  • Fabric that follows the shape: Sun’s critical point lamination uses sheet fabric hand cut for each model, placed across the shell from side to side the way a high end yacht is laminated, not bulk glass or sprayed chop.
  • A finished skin and a stiff edge: a modified epoxy skin-coat resin forms the surface, and structural ribs with a reinforced coping give the Shoreline its rigidity.
  • No clear coat, no fillers: Sun uses high grade marine FRP resin with no resin fillers and offers 4 solid marine color finishes, so no clear coat sits on top to yellow or fog.

Sun adds that the shell supports itself, so crews can set a Sun Pool without a spreader bar or belly band. Every step and the full floor of the Shoreline have Sun’s non-skid textured bottom.

Why Fiberglass, and Why the Shoreline?

Fiberglass puts the pool together in a factory instead of your backyard. Sun Pools ships the Shoreline as a finished shell that is ready to install, and says that saves weeks of construction time. Sun also points out that its surface will not need replacement the way a vinyl liner does, or acid washing and re-coating the way a concrete pool does, and that it needs minimum chemical treatment.

The Shoreline wins on looks and livability. Its free-form lines, which Sun says complement any landscaping option, give you room to curve a patio, tuck in plantings, or run a path along the edge without fighting a hard corner. The large steps give you an easy way in, and the deep end seating area gives you a place to sit, so the pool works as a lounge as much as a swim spot on a warm Ohio evening. At 12′ x 24′, it does this while leaving the rest of the yard open.

Shoreline Pool FAQs

What makes the Shoreline a traditional kidney design?

A kidney pool has a curved outline instead of straight walls. Sun Pools calls the Shoreline a “popular, traditional style kidney design” with free-form lines. Ohio Paradise Pools shows you the exact outline from Sun Pools’ drawings so you can see how it sits against your house.

What is inside the Shoreline, and how deep is it?

Sun describes large steps and a deep end seating area over a non-skid bottom, with a 3′ to 5′ water depth and a 12′ x 24′ size, both given as approximate maximum available dimensions. The large steps handle entry, and the deep end seating area waits for swimmers who want a rest. Young or inexperienced swimmers need an adult watching.

How is the Shoreline different from the Freeport and Freeport Oasis?

All three are listed at 12′ x 24′ with a 3′ to 5′ depth, so shape and layout decide it. The Shoreline is the kidney with free-form lines, large steps, and a deep end seating area. The Freeport, which Sun calls its “top selling 12′ x 24′ model,” pairs a wrap step area with two corner deep end swim ledges, and the Freeport Oasis adds a tanning ledge. The South Beach also shares the 12′ x 24′, 3′ to 5′ listing.

Shoreline or Jamaica?

Both are kidney designs. The Jamaica is listed at 14′ x 28′ with 3′ to 6′ and side steps. The Shoreline is 12′ x 24′ with 3′ to 5′. Choose the Jamaica for more room and more depth, and the Shoreline when the yard calls for a smaller footprint.

Will the Shoreline fit my landscaping plans?

Sun says the free-form lines complement any landscaping option, which gives a designer plenty to work with. The practical fit depends on setbacks, utilities, trees, and access, and we check all of them on a site visit.

Is the Shoreline compatible with an automatic cover?

Automatic cover compatibility does not appear on Sun Pools’ Shoreline model page. Ohio pools close for the months outside roughly mid-May through September, so Ohio Paradise Pools confirms your Shoreline cover options while we design the project.

What does the Shoreline installation process look like?

Sun delivers the Shoreline as a finished one-piece shell, and most installs take approximately 2 to 3 weeks from excavation to a placed shell with plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing complete. Permitting, site access, weather, and your decking scope affect that estimate. Our team manages everything, keeps you updated, offers FaceTime walk-throughs, and returns for two pool school visits.

What finishes and extras are available?

Sun Pools offers 4 solid marine color finishes with no clear coat. Across its line, Sun also lists inlaid mosaic tile designs, waterline tile trim, built in waterfalls, and color underwater lighting. On a kidney pool set into a garden, color and lighting choices change how the water reads from the house at night. Ohio Paradise Pools confirms which extras apply to the Shoreline during design and helps you match them to your landscaping.

How does the Shoreline warranty work?

The shell is backed by the Sun Pools Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty, and its interior surface by a 3 year warranty. You can transfer the warranty within the first 36 months of ownership. Coverage is defined by the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate delivered with your pool, and Sun requires registration with its corporate office. On the ground, Ohio Paradise Pools supports you with over 32 years of experience, an A+ BBB rating, and honors as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year for 2022, 2023, and 2024.

How much care does a Shoreline need?

Routine care is testing and balancing the water, running the filter, and skimming or vacuuming. Sun Pools says its smooth surface requires minimum chemical treatment and will not need a new liner or an acid wash. We cover the details during pool school.
