Aruba Sun Pool

A Real Pool for the Yard That Thought It Was Too Small

The Aruba by Sun Pools is a compact one-piece fiberglass pool for households that want water in the backyard without handing the whole backyard over to it. Sun Pools lists the Aruba at 8′ x 14′ with a depth of 4′, and among the pools Sun Pools lists (spas aside), none carries a shorter listed length. Think of it as a cool-off pool for a humid Northeast Ohio evening.

What Is the Aruba Pool?

The Aruba is a fiberglass pool from Sun Pools offered in a single listed size: 8′ x 14′ with a listed depth of 4′. Sun Pools gives these as approximate maximum available dimensions.

Those two numbers carry the story. Fourteen feet of length and eight feet of width make a footprint small enough for a courtyard, a corner beside the garage, or the last open patch of a yard that already holds a patio and a swing set. A listed depth of 4′ is water for soaking and cooling off, not for swimming laps. The exact step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings during your consultation.

What the Aruba Pool Is Not

The Aruba is not a lap pool, a game pool, or a pool for a crowd, and it does not pretend otherwise.

If you like the idea but want a little more water, the Sun Pools roster has the next steps up. The Ochos Rios keeps the same 8′ width and stretches to 8′ x 18′ with a depth of 54″. The Key West is listed at 9′ x 17′ with a depth of 4′ 6″. The Caladesi, at 10′ x 20′ with a 3′ to 5′ depth, is the step up if you want the water to change from shallower to deeper. And if the goal is the least length you can get away with, the Aruba is where to start.

Why Sun Pools?

Sun Pools began hand crafting swimming pools from American made composite materials in 1995, and its shells come out of a plant in Albany, Kentucky, that the company describes as an EPA approved Title V facility. Ohio is among the states Sun Pools serves, and the company credits decades of staff experience for what it calls one of the toughest composite pools on the market today.

A small shell still has to be built right. Three construction points stand out on the Aruba:

  • Yacht-style lamination: Sun Pools’ critical point lamination process uses hand cut sheet fabric for each pool model and lays the structural material across the shell from side to side, the way a high end yacht is built.
  • No spreader bar or belly band: According to Sun Pools, that lamination lets the shell support itself, so crews can handle and place it without a spreader bar or belly band.
  • Solid marine color, no clear coat: The Aruba is finished in one of 4 solid, high grade marine finishes over a modified epoxy skin-coat resin, with structural ribs, a reinforced coping, and marine FRP resin that uses no resin fillers.

Sun Pools says the floor and steps of its pools feature a non-skid textured bottom.

Why Fiberglass, and Why the Aruba?

Fiberglass takes the long construction phase out of the project. Sun Pools builds each shell in the factory and delivers it finished and ready to install, which it says saves weeks of construction time. After that, there is no vinyl liner waiting to be replaced and no concrete surface to acid wash or re-coat, and Sun Pools says the smooth interior needs only minimum chemical treatment.

The Aruba’s own argument is simple arithmetic. An 8′ x 14′ pool leaves most of a suburban lot for the things a family already uses: the grill, the lawn, the garden, the play set. And a small pool a few steps from the back door is one you slip into for ten minutes on a Tuesday, which across an Ohio swim season of roughly mid-May through September is what makes a pool worth owning.

Aruba Pool FAQs

Is an 8' x 14' pool big enough to enjoy?

For the way most people actually use a backyard pool, yes. Sun Pools lists the Aruba at 8′ x 14′ with a depth of 4′, as approximate maximum available dimensions. That is room to cool off, soak, and talk in the water on a hot afternoon. If laps or pool games are high on your list, a longer Sun Pools model will serve you better.

Which Sun Pools models are closest to the Aruba in size?

Among the pools Sun Pools lists (spas aside), the Aruba has the shortest listed length. The nearest steps up are the Key West at 9′ x 17′ with a 4′ 6″ depth and the Ochos Rios at 8′ x 18′ with a 54″ depth. The Caladesi at 10′ x 20′ and the Kingston at 11′ x 20′ both list a 3′ to 5′ depth. We compare those footprints against your actual yard during your consultation.

Does a 4' listed depth mean the whole floor is 4'?

Not necessarily. Sun Pools lists one depth for the Aruba, 4′, and a single listed depth does not prove the floor never changes. How the floor is shaped and where the steps sit are confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings when we meet.

What layout options should I ask about?

Bring three questions to your consultation: where the entry steps sit, whether there is any in-water seating, and which long side should face your house and patio. The step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings at that meeting. Sun Pools does not list automatic cover compatibility on the Aruba model page, so Ohio Paradise Pools confirms cover options with you during design.

How long does it take to install an Aruba pool?

The Aruba arrives from the factory as one finished fiberglass shell, so there is no on-site shell construction to wait through. Most installations run approximately 2 to 3 weeks from excavation through shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing. Permitting, site access, weather, and how much decking you add can move that number. Our crew runs the project start to finish, keeps you updated, and offers FaceTime walk-throughs when you cannot be there, and the job closes with two pool school visits.

What warranty does the Aruba pool carry?

Your Aruba shell is covered by the Sun Pools Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty. The interior surface has its own 3 year warranty, and the warranty can be transferred within the first 36 months. The terms are those of the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate that comes with the pool, and Sun Pools requires registration with its corporate office. Locally, Ohio Paradise Pools stands behind the installation with over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and recognition as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

What does maintenance look like on the Aruba?

Sun Pools says its smooth fiberglass interior requires minimum chemical treatment, and that the surface won’t need to be replaced like a vinyl liner or acid washed or re-coated like concrete. The routine is the familiar one: test the water, run the filter, and skim or vacuum now and then, and a compact pool generally takes less time and product than a large one. Pool school makes sure you have that routine down before we leave.
