Caladesi Sun Pool

A Small Footprint With a Full Range of Water

The Caladesi by Sun Pools is a 10′ x 20′ fiberglass pool with a listed depth of 3′ to 5′, built for the Northeast Ohio family that has a smaller yard and still wants a real swimming pool. Its place in the lineup is easy to state. The Caladesi is the smallest Sun Pools model listed with a 3′ to 5′ depth range, and the only one listed at 10 feet wide. Sun’s more compact pools, the Key West, Ochos Rios, and Aruba, each list a single depth instead. If you want a compact footprint without giving up a range of water, the Caladesi is where that starts.

What Is the Caladesi Pool?

The Caladesi is a fiberglass pool listed by Sun Pools at 10′ x 20′ with a depth of 3′ to 5′. Those are approximate maximum available dimensions, and Sun adds that any drawings are approximate and not to scale.

Two figures define it: a 10′ x 20′ footprint, and water that goes from roughly 3 feet down to roughly 5 feet. Sun lists that same 3′ to 5′ range on bigger shells such as the 12′ x 24′ Freeport and the 12′ x 28′ Meridia, so the Caladesi brings a familiar depth range to Sun’s most compact 3′ to 5′ footprint. Where the depth changes, and where the steps and any seating sit, are shown on Sun Pools’ drawings, which we go through with you at your consultation before you commit.

What the Caladesi Pool Is Not

The Caladesi is not a big-yard pool, and it is not a deep one. Its listing tops out at 5′. If you have more space, the Kingston lists 3′ to 5′ at 11′ x 20′, a foot wider at the same length, and the Sanibel lists 3′ to 5′ at 11′ x 23′.

It is also not one of Sun’s single-depth compact models. The Key West lists 4′ 6″ at 9′ x 17′, the Ochos Rios lists 54″ at 8′ x 18′, and the Aruba lists 4′ at 8′ x 14′. Those are smaller footprints listed at one depth. The Caladesi is a little larger and lists a range from 3′ to 5′.

Why Sun Pools?

A small pool is still built like the big ones. Sun Pools has hand crafted pools from American made composite materials since 1995 at its Albany, Kentucky plant, an EPA approved Title V facility, and it credits its staff’s decades of experience for what it calls “one of the toughest composite pools on the market today.”

What goes into a 10′ x 20′ Caladesi shell:

  • Critical point lamination: sheet fabric hand cut for the model and placed across the shell from side to side, a method Sun likens to high end yacht construction.
  • Self-supporting on delivery: Sun says this lamination lets the pool hold itself up, so it is lifted and set without a spreader bar or belly band.
  • Marine finish over marine resin: 4 solid color choices in high grade marine finishes, not a clear coat base that can yellow or fog, over high grade marine FRP resin with no resin fillers.

Sun Pools says the floor and steps of its pools feature a non-skid textured bottom.

Why Fiberglass, and Why the Caladesi?

For a compact yard, fiberglass keeps the project short and the upkeep light. Sun Pools builds the Caladesi in its factory and ships it as a finished shell ready to install, saving weeks of construction time by Sun’s account. There is no vinyl liner to replace later and no concrete surface to acid wash or re-coat. Sun also says the interior is smooth enough that it won’t snag a swimsuit or skin, and that it requires minimum chemical treatment.

The case for the Caladesi is getting the most pool experience out of the least yard. In Sun’s lineup, the pools smaller than the Caladesi each list one depth. The Caladesi lists a 3′ to 5′ range in a 10′ x 20′ footprint. That leaves room for a patio, a grill, and a patch of lawn, while still giving the family shallower water to ease into and deeper water to swim in. For a short Ohio summer, that is a lot of pool in a little space.

Caladesi Pool FAQs

What does a 3' to 5' depth mean on a 10' x 20' pool?

It means the water ranges from about 3 feet at the shallowest point to about 5 feet at the deepest, inside a compact 10′ x 20′ footprint. That is the same listed range as many of Sun’s larger pools, packed into its smallest footprint with a range. Where the depth changes between those two figures is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings, and we review them with you before you decide.

How is the Caladesi different from the Kingston?

Both list 3′ to 5′, and both are 20 feet long. The Kingston is one foot wider at 11′ x 20′, and Sun Pools describes a Roman style design with large plantation style steps wrapping the shallow end and two swim out seats in the deep end corners. The Caladesi is a foot narrower, and its step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings at your consultation. If every inch of width matters in your yard, the Caladesi is the tighter fit.

Will the Caladesi fit my yard?

At a listed 10′ x 20′, the Caladesi fits spaces where larger pools will not, but every lot is different. Setbacks, utilities, slopes, and access for delivery all shape what is possible. Ohio Paradise Pools maps the Caladesi’s footprint onto your actual yard during a site visit, so you can see how it sits and what space remains for decking and landscaping.

What layout options should I ask about?

The Caladesi’s step and seating layout is confirmed from Sun Pools’ drawings during your consultation. Ask about covers too. Sun Pools does not list automatic cover compatibility on the Caladesi’s model page, and Ohio Paradise Pools confirms cover options during design. It is also worth raising Sun’s brand-wide options, which include color underwater lighting, waterline tile trim, inlaid mosaic tile, and built in waterfalls.

How long does it take to install a Caladesi pool?

Arriving from Sun’s factory as a finished one-piece shell, the Caladesi usually goes in within approximately 2 to 3 weeks, counting excavation, shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing. Permitting, site access, weather, and decking scope can shift that window. Ohio Paradise Pools runs the project start to finish with regular updates and FaceTime walk-throughs, then closes with two pool school visits.

What warranty does the Caladesi pool carry?

The Caladesi carries Sun Pools’ Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty on its shell and a 3 year warranty on its interior surface, and the warranty is transferable within the first 36 months. The Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate delivered with the pool spells out the terms, and registration with Sun Pools’ corporate office is required. Ohio Paradise Pools backs you locally with over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and recognition as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
