The Nassau by Sun Pools is a free form fiberglass pool with a well known parent. Sun Pools introduces it as “the shrunk down version of our #1 selling Grand Cayman model,” and describes a free form design with “large side steps and swim out ledges in two corners.” According to Sun, “The smooth lines will compliment any space while offering a roomy interior.” At a listed 12′ x 25′ with 3′ to 5′ of water over a non-skid bottom, the Nassau lets a smaller Northeast Ohio yard borrow the curves of a larger design.

What Is the Nassau Pool?
Sun Pools groups the Nassau with its small pools. Its listed size is 12′ x 25′, and the depth runs 3′ to 5′. Both figures are what Sun calls approximate maximum available dimensions.
The outline is free form, with curving lines instead of straight walls. Entry comes from what Sun calls large side steps. Two corners hold swim out ledges for resting and gathering. Sun says the smooth lines offer a roomy interior, and it gives the floor a comfortable non-skid bottom. The shell is hand crafted with critical point lamination, the process Sun says is responsible for “the toughest pools on the market.”
What the Nassau Pool Is Not
The Nassau is not a Grand Cayman in a different color. Sun’s Grand Cayman is a medium pool listed at 14′ x 32′ with 3′ to 6′ of depth, and its page describes a nonslip walk around safety ledge, built in steps, and seating areas at the front and rear. Those features belong to the Grand Cayman. The Nassau is the smaller free form cousin, with its own side steps and two corner swim out ledges, in a 12′ x 25′, 3′ to 5′ shell.
Nor is it a deep-water pool. Its listed depth tops out at 5′, which keeps it in play and relaxation territory. If deeper water matters, Sun lists the 14′ x 32′ Catalina at 3′ to 7′ and the Grand Cayman itself at 3′ to 6′.
Why Sun Pools?
Curves are only as good as the shell that holds them. Sun Pools, owned by Aaron and Kevin McCarthy, has produced hand crafted pools since 1995, and its Albany, Kentucky plant is an EPA approved Title V facility. On a free form pool like the Nassau, a few construction choices do the heavy lifting:
- Critical point lamination across every curve: hand cut sheet fabric, cut for this model, is laid across the Nassau’s shell from side to side, the same principle Sun points to in high end yacht building.
- Modified epoxy skin-coat resin, ribs, and coping: Sun finishes the one-piece shell with a modified epoxy skin-coat resin and reinforces it with structural ribs and a reinforced coping.
- Four marine finishes, no clear coat: the color is one of 4 solid, high grade marine finishes over marine FRP resin with no resin fillers, so there is no clear coat to yellow or fog.
Sun also notes that its shells support themselves during placement, with no spreader bar or belly band needed. The Nassau’s side steps and floor carry the non-skid textured bottom Sun uses throughout its line.
Why Fiberglass, and Why the Nassau?
Fiberglass pools like the Nassau are built in the factory and arrive as a finished shell ready for installation, which Sun says saves weeks of construction time. From then on, Sun says, the surface will not need to be swapped out like a vinyl liner or acid washed and re-coated like concrete, and its smooth interior needs minimum chemical treatment.
Why this model? Because curves soften a small yard. Sun says the Nassau’s smooth lines complement any space, so the pool can sit among garden beds and a patio instead of dominating them. You get the family resemblance to what Sun Pools calls its “#1 selling Grand Cayman model” in a 12′ x 25′ footprint, and side steps plus two corner swim out ledges give swimmers places to sit and rest throughout the pool.

Nassau Pool FAQs
What is the Nassau's relationship to the Grand Cayman?
Sun Pools calls the Nassau “the shrunk down version of our #1 selling Grand Cayman model.” Both are free form designs. The Grand Cayman is listed at 14′ x 32′ and 3′ to 6′, and the Nassau at 12′ x 25′ and 3′ to 5′. Each model has its own features, and we compare the two layouts side by side from Sun Pools’ drawings during your consultation.
What are side steps and swim out ledges?
Sun describes the Nassau’s entry as large side steps. Steps set into the side of a pool can be handy from a patio along that edge. Swim out ledges are spots for sitting or resting, and Sun places the Nassau’s in two corners, so there are spots to pause while the open water stays free for play. We confirm the exact positions from Sun Pools’ drawings.
How deep is the Nassau?
Sun lists a water depth of 3′ to 5′, with a 12′ x 25′ size, as approximate maximum available dimensions. That range covers shallow water for easing in and a 5′ area for swimming. Supervise younger and less confident swimmers at all times.
Which Sun Pools models are closest to the Nassau?
The Freeport, Freeport Oasis, and Shoreline are a foot shorter at 12′ x 24′, all 3′ to 5′. The Shoreline is a traditional style kidney design that Sun says has free-form lines. The Montego Bay is 11′ x 26′ and the Meridia 12′ x 28′, both 3′ to 5′. The Nassau is the only one Sun describes as a shrunk down Grand Cayman.
Does a free form pool fit an odd-shaped yard?
Sun says the Nassau’s smooth lines will compliment any space. Whether it fits your particular yard depends on setbacks, utilities, access, and the deck you want, so we plot the Nassau on your property during a site visit.
What about an automatic cover?
For the Nassau, automatic cover compatibility is not listed on Sun Pools’ model page. Because an Ohio pool sits idle outside the roughly mid-May through September swim season, we confirm cover options for the Nassau while the design is still on paper.
How long does a Nassau installation take?
With a one-piece shell that arrives finished, installation usually runs approximately 2 to 3 weeks, covering excavation, shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing. Your permits, yard access, the weather, and your decking plans can all change the pace. Ohio Paradise Pools manages the full project, updates you regularly, offers FaceTime walk-throughs, and ends with two pool school visits.
Can I personalize the Nassau?
Yes, within the options Sun Pools lists. The shell comes in 4 solid marine color finishes, and Sun lists brand-wide extras including inlaid mosaic tile designs, waterline tile trim, built in waterfalls, and color underwater lighting. A tile line can trace the Nassau’s curves nicely, and lighting shows off the free form outline after dark. We confirm which options apply to the Nassau when we build your design.
What warranty does the Nassau carry?
Sun Pools gives the Nassau shell a Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty and its interior surface a 3 year warranty. A buyer of your home can take over the coverage if the transfer happens within the first 36 months. Terms come from the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate that comes with the pool, and registration with Sun’s corporate office is required. Locally, Ohio Paradise Pools brings over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and recognition as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
What maintenance does the Nassau need?
The usual routine applies: test and balance the water, run the filter, skim and vacuum. Sun Pools says its smooth surface requires minimum chemical treatment and will not need a replacement liner or an acid wash. Pool school covers every step.
