The South Beach by Sun Pools is a fiberglass pool listed at 12′ x 24′ with a depth of 3′ to 5′. That range gives you shallower water for wading and cooling off and deeper water, to 5′, for swimming and play, all in one factory-finished fiberglass shell. The South Beach’s step and seating layout is one you get to know on Sun Pools’ drawings, side by side with our team. Sun Pools lists the Freeport, Freeport Oasis, and Shoreline at the same size, so if you are comparing all four, we lay them out together.

What Is the South Beach Pool?
The South Beach is a fiberglass pool that Sun Pools lists at 12′ x 24′ with a depth of 3′ to 5′. Per Sun Pools, those figures are approximate maximum available dimensions, and its drawings are approximate and not to scale.
Twelve feet across and twenty-four feet end to end, the South Beach holds roughly 3 feet of water at its shallow point and roughly 5 feet where it runs deepest. We mark where that change falls, along with the step layout and any seating, on Sun Pools’ drawings when we sit down with you. With four Sun models sharing this exact size and depth listing, the layout is the real reason to pick one over another.
What the South Beach Pool Is Not
The South Beach is not the model Sun lists with a tanning ledge. That is the Freeport Oasis, which Sun describes with a large step area in the shallow end, two corner end seats in the deep end, and a built in tanning ledge. It is not the Freeport either, which Sun describes with a large wrap step area in the shallow end and two corner deep end swim ledges. And it is not the Shoreline, which Sun calls a traditional style kidney design with free-form lines, large steps, and a deep end seating area.
The South Beach is also not a large or deep pool. For more length at the same width and depth range, the Nassau lists 12′ x 25′ and the Meridia lists 12′ x 28′. For something a little smaller, the Sanibel lists 11′ x 23′.
Why Sun Pools?
Since 1995, Sun Pools has hand crafted its swimming pools from American made composite materials, all at one plant in Albany, Kentucky, an EPA approved Title V facility.
Here is what goes into a 12′ x 24′ South Beach shell:
- Fabric laid side to side: For every model, Sun hand cuts sheet fabric and runs the structural layers across the shell from one side to the other, the way a high end yacht is built. Sun calls this critical point lamination.
- A shell that carries itself: Sun says that lamination lets the pool support itself, so crews can lift and set it without a spreader bar or belly band.
- Solid marine color: Sun finishes its shells in 4 solid color choices, high grade marine finishes with what it calls a proven track record, over a modified epoxy skin-coat resin, and skips the clear coat bases it says can yellow or fog.
Sun Pools says the floor and steps of its pools feature a non-skid textured bottom.
Why Fiberglass, and Why the South Beach?
Compared with vinyl and concrete, fiberglass skips most of the building on site. Sun Pools makes each shell in its factory, and it reaches your yard finished and ready to install, which Sun says saves weeks of construction time. There is no liner to replace down the road and no acid washing or re-coating the way a concrete pool needs, and Sun says its smooth interior calls for minimum chemical treatment. Ohio’s swim season runs roughly mid-May through September, so every week not spent on construction is a week spent in the water.
The case for the South Beach comes down to choice. The 12′ x 24′ footprint is one Sun Pools has built several designs around, and the South Beach gives you another layout option at that same size. If you already know 12′ x 24′ is right for your yard, comparing the South Beach drawing with the Freeport, Freeport Oasis, and Shoreline lets you pick the arrangement that fits how your family actually uses the water.

South Beach Pool FAQs
What does 12' x 24' with a 3' to 5' depth mean in practice?
Picture about 3 feet of water at one point and about 5 feet at the deepest, inside a footprint 12 feet wide and 24 feet long. That gives you room to swim, play, and cool off, and it takes less of the yard than Sun’s 14-foot-wide models. The spot where the depth changes comes from Sun Pools’ drawings, and we go over it with you before you choose.
How is the South Beach different from the Freeport and Freeport Oasis?
All three are listed at 12′ x 24′ and 3′ to 5′. The difference is design. Sun Pools calls the Freeport its top selling 12′ x 24′ model, and the Freeport Oasis adds a built in tanning ledge. The South Beach’s arrangement is shown on Sun Pools’ drawings, and we can set all three side by side so you can see which one suits your family.
How does the South Beach compare with the Shoreline?
Both are listed at 12′ x 24′ and 3′ to 5′. Sun describes the Shoreline as a traditional style kidney design with free-form lines, large steps, and a deep end seating area. Lining up the South Beach’s layout against the Shoreline’s happens on Sun Pools’ drawings when we meet.
What layout options should I ask about?
Ask us to walk you through the South Beach drawing. That is where its step and seating layout is confirmed, during your consultation. Sun Pools does not list automatic cover compatibility on the South Beach’s model page, so Ohio Paradise Pools confirms cover options during design. Across its line, Sun also offers waterline tile trim, inlaid mosaic tile, built in waterfalls, and color underwater lighting.
How long does it take to install a South Beach pool?
The South Beach ships from the factory as one finished piece. From excavation to shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and initial finishing, most installations run approximately 2 to 3 weeks, with permitting, site access, weather, and decking scope setting the exact pace. We run the entire project, keep you posted, share FaceTime walk-throughs, and wrap up with two pool school visits.
What warranty does the South Beach pool carry?
Every Sun Pools fiberglass shell, the South Beach included, carries a Lifetime Structural Pool Shell Warranty. The interior surface has a 3 year warranty, and the warranty can be transferred within the first 36 months. Terms are set by the Sun Pools Inc. Shell Warranty Certificate that comes with the pool, and registration with Sun Pools’ corporate office is required. Closer to home, Ohio Paradise Pools brings over 32 years in business, a BBB A+ rating, and three straight years, 2022, 2023, and 2024, as Cleveland’s swimming pool contractor of the year.
